Description
Very unusual Military globe with adaptable telescoping stand .
A precision military training globe sold by “A. J. Nystrom / Maps Globes Charts Models” probably during the Korean War or later. The hollow steel orb delineates the continents, oceans, latitude and longitude numbers, but no geographical names. A stainless steel ferule and clamp attach the orb to a painted steel three-tiered base with casters via a telescoping solid steel rod within a metal tube. The ensemble varies in height from 53 to 69 inches depending on the extension of the rod held in place by a set screw. Orb size is unusual, but the entire item is made precisely to U. S. government specifications for either the Navy or Air Force for navigational training. Minor surface scrapes and one small ding. Overall good looking and imposing project floor globe.
