Description
A very hi-quality leather sofa designed and produced in the NETHERLANDS. Great lines and details on thus caramel -cognac coloured beauty . Acquired from a private collection in Texas. Founded in 1974 by the Van den Berg brothers, Montis derived its name from the Latin genitive of "mons" (montis), translating to "of the mountains," a nod to the family's surname. Initially operating with just two employees—an upholsterer and a leather tanner—Montis moved to Dongen, a town famous for its tanneries, in 1975. It wasn’t long before the brand introduced the groundbreaking Jacket technique in 1982, revolutionizing upholstery with zippers on metal structures and bringing the classic Chaplin chair to life. The 1980s was a period of rapid growth for Montis, establishing its name not just in Holland and Germany, but also overseas, including the Middle and Far East.
