This is a superb original signed oil on paper painting by listed artist AFRANIO METELLI (Italian, b. 1924), dated 1964

Acquired from a private collection in Vancouver, featured in LA times design magazine in 1966.

Metelli was recently the subject of a major retrospective, "Afranio Metelli § Works 1947/2008", staged at the Civic Gallery of Modern Art in Spoleto, curated by John Carandente. The exhibition brought together paintings and collages by the artist, born in Pissignano in 1924, who has traveled widely; from Vallauris in France, where he met Picasso, to Mexico City and Los Angeles, before returning to Umbria where he has lived for almost forty years.

This rare original painting is signed by the artist on the front lower right "Afranio Metelli", and dated "64". It is also titled in ink on the verso.
